I am a self proclaimed child of the Universe who loves nothing more then spending time with my family and friends. I have a passion for all things creative and when I am not on air I can be found scratching around second hand stores for someones once precious treasure. I adore collecting vinyl, art and books. I love loving people and have a soft spot for whiskey, dancing, live music and sushi. Things that freak me out are gecko’s, wooden chopping boards and coriander. Since becoming a Mom my past life of 4am bedtime after a thrashing party has come to a grinding holt. Ringing ears and tequila drenched cheeks seem like a lifetime ago. Now an ultimate night is watching re-runs of The Office and Modern Family while snuggled up next to my man while our cherub hunts zzzz’s peacefully in his bedroom.About Me

“You may have thought you heard me say I wanted a lot of bacon and eggs, but what I said was: Give me all the bacon and eggs you have.”
Ron Swanson-Parks and Recreation

Double Blessing**
Another two love children to add to our home of love and warmth. You can imagine how gobsmacked I was when I saw 2 little beings actively wriggling in the scan. Each day that passes and I fall more and more in love with the idea of welcoming these blessings into our hearts. I wont tell a lie, there are days of sheer overwhelming panic but have found such liberation in handing over the unknown to the universe. I have always been so guided and surrounded why should now be any different? I have been searching for my lifes work, I just wasn’t it aware it lived inside of me. I tell Cooper often that he is my example of how much my heart can love. He is going to be the best big brother. It is so dear, every morning he kisses my belly twice-1 for each baby and then ends with a surround sound zerbit. He is 21 months of pure edible mayhem. His new thing is to shout around the house ‘go baby go’ not ideal, hopefully this will have worn off by October.
Its fashion Bebe
This photo was taken backstage at Jozi Fashion week. After hair, make up and numerous trips to the ladies it was time to hit the ramp in a KMK creation. Back stage at a fashion show is exactly what you would expect. A room full of beautiful yet hungry looking people flashing boobs, bums and toned perfection all manically tearing around.
Would I do it again, I am not sure, I was seriously out of my depth but it was fun being invited into the inner fashion circle. I am however much more at ease with the role as Mom and wife as apposed to model.
Early Bird concentration
Photographic student Christy Holmes popped into the studio last week end to take a few snaps of her early morning subject. This was day 2 of our new play out system hence the deep concentration. Operation side step dead air at all costs.
Love your work Christy hope you win!
Pride in motion
How totally rad are these leather Froggie sneaks!
If David Kramer and Evita had leather babies this is what they’d look like.
Win Win Win
If you were blessed enough to go on holiday by this stage it already seems like a distant memory.
The start to the year is kind of like plodding along on a runaway treadmill while wearing a pair of killer red stilettos.
Thank God for vida e caffe. My day is not complete without a strong cup of warm silky vida e caffe heaven.
vida e caffe at The Square just off Umhlanga Rocks Drive is my regular haunt.
vida e caffe can been found all over the show including in Londres darling.
In KZN they have stores in Florida Road, Gateway, Lighthouse Mall and Westville Mall.
I love everything about vida e caffe.
From the joyous singsong fashion that your order is taken to the great music, staff and of course their coffee that comes with the dearest little Lindt dark chocolate.
Not only do they do a devastating coffee but also they have a wide range of other delicious beverages.
Have you tried any of their sweet munchy treats?
To die for!

Christmas came early.

Nixon brings the noise
Look what arrived in the post today.
Nothing like a big box arriving at your door on a soaking Monday morning.
Nixon is a name that needs no introduction.
Not only do they make the coolest collection of watches you want to own, ask Leigh Vermaak winner of the limited edition Beastie Boy Time Teller.
Nixon make headphones too.
Feeling gOOd
How creatively delicious is this ” I feel good today” wall art. It forms p/art of the Erste Liebe /coffee-spot/lunch-break/bar in Hamburg.
Erste Liebe means first love in German.
The romantic in me has a grand idea.
A few birthdays ago I gave Mike a gorgeous black and white beach cruiser.
It now lives in the garage in-between boxes of my vintage clothing and could well be resurrected and made into living art.
Not sure he would feel my sentiments maybe if I painted ”You make my heart go bOOm” I could get away with it?
The Hills were alive
It was obvious that a blue Monday would be lurking after such a blissful escape to The Hilton Arts Festival.
The adventure started on Thursday afternoon with a car trip adventure to The Protea Hotel Hilton.
Hanging with Mr Purkiss
This morning I got to catch up with lovely Farryl live in studio.
How rad is our version of A Million Grains of Sand.
I played a 4/2 in F. Ha muso talk.
To be honest I just gave it stick literally .

For the love of Ard
This morning I caught up with lovely Ard Matthews live in studio on East Coast Radio.
Yip the once dreadlocked singer from Just Jinger and recently the guy who duffed our National Anthem live on TV.
Let’s be honest we have all at times in parts found ourselves totally mouthing in silence while trying to sing our Anthem.
Ard is one of the nicest most down to earth good guys I have ever met.
Here is our time together.
Love you long time Buddy

Father and Son
This image is one of the most sacred gifts I have ever been given.
It is stored right in the very back of my keep safe and forever part of my brain.
My happiest moments are silently looking on as my boys bask in each others company.
One little man and one big man both equally infatuated with each other.
Boy time is all about running, hiding, chasing and dive bombing onto the couch while hanging onto dads back for dear life.
Braai making I would say is the highlight of Cooper’s existence.
Nothing delights him more then the dance of the red flames and eye full after eye full of braai smoke.
I revel in the thought that this tender, nurturing and adventurous love affair between the 3 of us has only just begun.
Trust Karl
This week in Paris, Karl Lagerfeld presented his take on the working girl’s briefcase.
How tremendous!
I could so rock this bad boy around town.
I think it could also help me out by being selective with what I carry around in my handbag.
Not only does it weigh a small ton but putting my hand into my bag is like sticking a claw into the center of the universe.
Anything and I mean anything could come out.
From bottles of nail polish, loose rice cakes to a handful of pens, a dummy and possibly even the cure for aids are all part and parcel of a dip inside.
The only thing that could possibly spoil his edgy delight is a runaway tampon wedged in the front panel.
Eish from super-cool to not so much.
RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!
How cute is this.
Kind of apt considering the hostile conditions around the place.
I never thought the words RAIN RAIN GO AWAY would ever come out of my mouth post 5 years old.
I have always had a soft spot for icy weather.
This giving me a chance to climb into winter threads, be armed with a glass of red next to my man and a roaring log fire.
This however is a typical Mildands picture.
Living in the burbs with no log fire and having to do every day stuff like keeping my child out of the cold mud and getting to the gym proves rather difficult.
All I want to do is shovel comfort food into my face while lying in bed trying to escape the miff.
Not to mention that nothing is more frustrating then having water drops permanently fixed to my prescribed vision.
Water drops on spectacles full of dorky.
WIN WIN WIN

One
Yesterday we celebrated Cooper’s beautiful first year of being with an intimate gathering at Breakers Hotel in Umhlanga.
Champaign flutes flowed with bubbles and OJ.
A beautiful table laid with the most devastating love-stuffed red velvet cakes with creamy black icing courtesy of the magical kind hearted baker fairy.
Thank you Mel.
It was very amusing as you could see straight away who had tucked into a piece of sugar heaven as their mouth and tongue were temporarily stained black. Continue reading “One” »
The Birthday Boy
On the 3rd of August our little Cooper celebrated his first birthday.
For him it was just another day and I am sure inside his soft little head he was thinking ‘what is all the fuss about people?’
For me it was a very surreal and overwhelming day reminiscing about the last year and in particular the whole birthing process. Those first days in hospital with the new title of parent blur past in a heartbeat. Continue reading “The Birthday Boy” »
The Durban International Film Festival
Last night I attendend the closing award ceremony and screening of the much anticipated Midnight In Paris, Woody Allen’s latest offering.
Midnight In Paris was the opening film at the Cannes Film Festival and was the closing film at the 32nd annual Durban International Film Festival .
If the Bra fits
Today at the age of 32 I went for my first ever professional bra fitting.
What an absolute treat.
In the past bra shopping was always such a stressful and tiring ordeal.
First task was to correctly thumbs suck the correct size.
Once armed with a million little plastic hangers flaunting the prettiest of undergarments it’s fitting room time. Being up close and personal with ones naked self is always a daunting task in front of the super illuminated highly magnified change room mirrors. Continue reading “If the Bra fits” »
Mrs Linley-Thomas
This day 3 years ago I said I DO. From the moment we met up until now has been a rich and blessed blur of sheer delight and adventure. Now being parents to our little Cooper who is our daily reminder and example of our love. I thank the universe dearly daily for you.I love you Mikey thank you for choosing me as your Mrs.

Farewell Amy
Of course it is no huge surprise that Amy Winehouse’s lifestyle would eventually kill her.
Even watching 2008 footage where her dad Mitch spoke openly about his concern for her reckless lifestyle, her health and well being.
Drugs, booze, damaging relationships, emphysema and eating disorders all compounded in the fall of this bright musical star.
Knowing all this I was still very heart sore and shaken when I heard the news.
What a delight
One of my best week end activities is watching re-runs of shows like Modern Family, Parks and Recreation and of course The Office US and UK.
If I was ever held at gunpoint and had to choose my best show and favourite characters Dwight K Schrute would most certainly make that list. Continue reading “What a delight” »
67 Minutes
Happy 93rd birthday for yesterday Tata. The mind boggles at the thought of being 7 years away from 100!
I was overjoyed when we were told our 67 minutes of giving would be transforming a drab classroom in Stanger.
The road trip was pretty rock n roll hitting the open tar in Darren Maul’s new set of wheels. With Darren’s top down, wind in our hair and the killer sounds of David Bowie we arrived in the hub of Stanger. Continue reading “67 Minutes” »
Another year blessed
Come dine with ME Umhlanga Rocks Drive
It is no secret that my domestic abilities leave much to be desired. I have however always been able to make a killer salad, toasted sarmie and can throw a good breakfast together.
You would think that having taken home economics as a subject at school that my culinary skills would be a little more impressive. Continue reading “Come dine with ME Umhlanga Rocks Drive” »
Love for the bad Apple.
No words can explain my love and passion for my Apple MacBook Pro. In the past I was always slightly irked by Apple users that used to go on and on about the their beloved Apples. When Mike got his iphone I was heard saying ‘how do you know if someone has an iphone?……they tell you’.
I have to admit that I am now one of those people. Continue reading “Love for the bad Apple.” »
Especially for you
It is pretty frustrating that Durban is the ugly sister of hosting international artists and bands. I mean come on how many times are Live and Counting Crows gonna hit us with an appearance?
I am not sure about you but I have had my full. Counting Crows what a bunch of dooches. Continue reading “Especially for you” »
Sole Mates.
I am hands down addicted to sushi. I have been known to wake up in the middle of the night salivating at the thought of a bamboo roll dunked in soy, a hint of green power and ginger.
This pillow is the most delicious thing I have ever seen and would be pretty apt when lying awake imagining. Continue reading “Sole Mates.” »
Grahamstown Festival wrapped up by Illa Thompson.

Madame Zingara

Last night I hopped on board the Love Magic tour with Madame Zingara. The wine flowed like wine and the company couldn’t have been better. From the moment you set foot into The Theatre of Dreams the line between real and not so is non existent.
Set in a bygone era tent complete with chandeliers and stained glass windows it is the perfect back drop for a decadent feast over a showcase of glittering and breathtaking feats. I opted for the devastating chili chocolate steak again. Bloody marvelous. Every act is magical and layered in sound, lavish costumes and pure Circ de Soleil type entertainment. Continue reading “Madame Zingara” »
Hanging with Mr Cooper.
I promise not to be a photo slamming mom who takes all opportunities to flash her little treasures gums and minimal ivories, but I had to share this with you. This photo of Cooper was taken by delightful Val Adamson at the East Coast Radio House and Garden Show last week. As for this delicious Alice In Wonderland wingback chair! Carine Goss you are one clever lady. The choice and colour of the patchwork makes my inner magpie giddy.

The only beer I would drink.
I am so not a beer drinker.
I do however think it is quiet sexy to see a women handle a beer with confidence and authority.
I am not sure if the distaste has anything to do with a few post school years in Pietermaritzburg.
